What Is Hope in Christ?

The heart of Gaston's Hope in Christ lies in our commitment to empowering those we serve. We are on a mission to support academically at-risk students, mentor young leaders, and provide English language instruction to non-native speakers. At the same time, our local tutoring services serve as a bridge to narrow down the gaps in education and boost self-esteem. As a result, this will encourage lifelong learning among participants. In addition to the above, we believe in building an environment where individuals feel valued and empowered, which makes them thrive within their communities.

Furthermore, our programs are designed to be inclusive and accessible, ensuring that every individual who seeks assistance is welcomed and valued.

Fostering Leadership and Community Engagement

Our tutoring service in Gaston County and valuable enrichment programs promote community awareness and leadership among young people. At the same time, we provide college internships and high school enrichment programs held in the summer—the idea is to develop essential skills in teamwork, communication, and service.

Our programs help students learn about their community, encourage them to give feedback and foster a spirit of compassion and civic responsibility. All the above participants will gain experience that will serve them well beyond the classroom, helping them grow into compassionate individuals.

English Hope: Breaking Language Barriers through ESL Programs

Language is an eminent part of communication, yet for non-native English speakers, it can be a barrier! Gaston Hope in Christ addresses this with English Hope, a welcoming ESL program for adults. Now in its seventh year, English Hope offers low-cost, accessible classes focused on helping adults build English skills for work, family, and social life.

Our dedicated volunteer instructors provide personalized support, adapting lessons to each learner's needs. Through English Hope, many have gained the confidence to communicate effectively, engage in their communities, and embrace new opportunities.
